The Long Beach Resister Sisters is a grassroots political group committed to progressive ideals, civic engagement, and building an informed, active community. We come together to discuss current events, support candidates and policies that align with our values, and take meaningful action in the democratic process.
We focus on both local and national political races—watching closely, asking questions, volunteering our time, and standing up for the causes we believe in. We’re especially dedicated to increasing voter participation, with a strong emphasis on local races and ballot initiatives that directly impact our communities.
We believe that staying informed and engaged isn't just important—it’s essential.
The Long Beach Resister Sisters take action to promote civic engagement, progressive values, and social justice.
We began in 2018 by writing postcards to voters—supporting candidates and campaigns both locally and across the country. Our postcard efforts have included outreach to Floridians encouraging them to sign up for vote-by-mail and helping mobilize voters in key elections.
Our activism has grown to include organizing and participating in marches, vigils, rallies, protests, and demonstrations. From planning “Impeach at the Beach” to protesting the inhumane treatment of migrants at the border, we take a stand—protesting and assisting where we can to prevent people from being disappeared—and help others do the same.
We’re also committed to informed voting. Ahead of each election, we research municipal ballot measures, state propositions, judicial and school board candidates, and races at every level of government—and we share what we learn to help others make informed choices at the ballot box.
